Employment Application

 External Applicant Directions
(for Non-School District of Lee County Employees Only)

Who is an External Applicant?

An External Applicant is a jobseeker that is not currently a regular, full or part-time employee of the School District of Lee County. Substitute bus drivers, substitute bus attendants, substitute custodians, substitute food service workers, substitute paraprofessionals, and all charter school employees are considered External Applicants.

If you are a current School District employee, please click [here] to access the Internal Applicant directions*.

* If you are a former School District employee and previously applied as an internal applicant, you will need to register as an external applicant and begin a new application. Application information will not default in from any previous applications submitted as an employee.

Tips for a Successful Application

It is important that you read the applicant directions carefully and follow them exactly. Completing the entire application properly is very important as it is your first chance to present your skills to hiring managers.

Hiring managers thoroughly review the information on job applications and resumes when deciding who to invite for job interviews. Please keep in mind that hiring managers will judge the appearance of an application and resume as a clue to how much importance you put on the quality of your work.

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

1. Not following applicant directions
 2. Failure to complete all sections of the online application
 3. Incomplete work history, or large unexplained gaps in work history
 4. Overlapping or conflicting employment dates with no explanation
 5. Misspelled words
 6. Failure to submit supporting application documents (i.e. transcripts, high school diploma, reference
     forms, certificates, etc.)
 7. Failure to list current or most recent employer as a reference
 8. Failure to read and check application for accuracy and completeness prior to submission
 9. Failure to answer each of the application questions honestly
